1. Was there a time when you redefined beauty for yourself? What sparked that change?

Yes, definitely.

I’m originally from Milan, Italy. A stunning city of course but one that can be quite intense when it comes to beauty standards. Growing up, I felt a lot of pressure to always look good and put together. I was really into makeup, skincare, following trends… the more, the better. It’s very common there to feel that you have to keep up with all of that to fit in. Everything changed when I moved overseas. I spent two years in Australia and I’ve now been living in New Zealand for five. Since moving I have found a much more relaxed and accepting attitude toward appearance. People care more about who you are as a person than what you look like and my perception of beauty has changed in such a positive way. I no longer feel the need to fit into unrealistic body/beauty standards. I still love taking care of myself, but it’s more about feeling good than looking perfect. This change has honestly brought so much peace and comfort into my life.

2. If your younger self could see you now, what would she be proud of?

She’d be proud of the person I’ve become.

I let go of a lot of pressure I used to put on myself and this is so freeing.

I’m definitely not perfect and I’m not trying to be (anymore). I’ve come a long way and this alone would make her smile. She would be happy to know that life gets easier when you’re comfortable in your own skin.

3. In what ways are you learning to be softer with yourself?

I’m learning to take things as they come and figure things out in my own time.

It is okay to just be.

I don’t need to have everything perfectly sorted all the time.

4. What are your favourite ways to come home to yourself when you are feeling disconnected?

When I’m feeling disconnected, the best thing to do is just slow down. Life is so hectic and sometimes I need to step away from distractions (my phone, work thoughts or something negative that had happened etc).

Rest is important and it isn’t laziness, it actually helps me reconnect.

Sometimes I treat myself to something nice: a meal out, a coffee with a friend, a walk somewhere nice or a little skincare ritual bring me back to myself.

5. Why are using natural products in your self-care rituals important to you?

It’s important because I can actually feel and smell the difference. A natural scent helps me relax and it has happened more than once to have skin rashes due to harsh ingredients and chemical fragrances. Using natural products gives me peace of mind because it’s one less thing to worry about.

6. Is there a particular scent, texture, taste or item that feels nourishing to you when you need a pick-me-up?

My favourite essential oils are bergamot, lavender and cedarwood. They all bring calm and balance and I use skincare that includes them. I love face and body oils because besides smelling so good, they leave a glow on your skin that looks so healthy and I like that they require a little massage too.

7. What would you say to someone who is struggling to appreciate and love their body?

I’d say that I understand, I still struggle sometimes too. But life does get easier and with time and patience body perception shifts from struggle to acceptance and eventually to respect and love. Your body is on your side and has carried you through thick and thin, this alone should be enough to honour it.

8. If your favourite Bopo Women product could speak, what would it say to you? It would say “one drop and you’ll fall in love”.

This is the Self - Body oil speaking, my absolute favourite and the very first one I ever tried.

9. Have you ever shared a Bopo Women product with a friend or loved one?

Not yet, I’ve been keeping them all to myself! But they are the perfect gift idea, and I’ll definitely be including few in my next order to share at the next celebration.

10. What message would you put on a billboard in Times Square that you wish all women would see?

“Keep taking time for yourself until you are you again ”
